Anna Benkelman

Anna Benkelman, 96, of Cass City died Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Tendercare nursing home in Cass City.

She was born in Chandler Township, Huron County, to Henry and Minnie (Kleinert) Steinman.

She married Ward Benkelman December 8, 1925, in Cass City. He preceded her in death February 4, 1989.

Benkelman worked for Zempke's Department Store for 6 years, and 17 years at Sommer's Bakery.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Benkelman was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose STIRRETT and Minnie WILLIAMS, and two brothers, Edwin STEINMAN and Clarence STEINMAN.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Little & Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City. Interment will take place in the spring in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Cass City. Arrangements were made by Little & Kranz Funeral Home.

Anna married Ward William Benkelman on 8 Dec 1925 in Cass City, Tuscola County, Michigan. Ward (son of Samuel G. Benkelman and Mary Striffler) was born on 15 Feb 1894 in Elkland Township, Tuscola County, Michigan; died on 3 Feb 1989 in Cass City, Tuscola County, Michigan; was buried on 6 Feb 1989 in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City, Tuscola County, Michigan.
