Maureen Frances Travis, 97, died Tuesday May 3, 2011, in the Fairview Healthcare Residence in Fairfield, TX. She was born in Sabine County, TX, to Johnnie A. and Allie Humphreys Conn and considered Sabine County her home all her life. She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in the Gravelhill Community near Hemphill.

Mrs. Travis is survived by two sons, Tony Coke Travis, Jr. and his wife Dora of New Caney, TX, and Larry Ronald Travis and his wife Mary of Streetman, TX, her daughter Linda Travis Bell of Houston, her brother Jackie Ray Conn of Centennial, CO and her sister Clara Mae Johnson of Orange, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 5, 2011, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, TX. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 6, 2011, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Gravelhill Cemetery near Hemphill.

Abbie (daughter of Adam Jackson "Tony" Bennett, Jr and Nancy Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jones) was born on 3 Apr 1878 in Texas; died on 11 Dec 1973 in Sabine County, Texas; was buried on 13 Dec 1973 in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas. She was listed a housewife and mother, widowed, and a resident of Sabine County, living 3 miles west of Hemphill on Hwy. 183. Her parentes were shown as Tony Bennett and Lizzie Jones, and the informant was Mrs. Pauline Davis, a daughter.

At the time of the 1910 census, Johnnie and Alllie were living in adjoining households in Sabine County, on the Hemphill/San Augustine Road. Johnny was living with his parents, and Ara J Humphreys, was a border in the Conn Home. Ara was likely a younger sister of Allie. Allie was a boarder with Johnny's aunt, Minnie Conn Boyett and her husband Nathan Boyett.
