Jessie Lee Bryant, Sr., 81, of Livingston died on Feb. 20 in Port Arthur.
Services were held Feb. 23 at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial following at Friendship Cemetery n Roganville.
A native of Bronson, he grew up in Roganville and lived in Livingston.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Morgan Bryant of Livingston; son, Jessie Bryant Jr. of Houston; daughters, Jenny Lee Bryant of Baton Rouge, La., Jackie Lenn Philyaw of Nederland, and Justine Perez of Houston; brothers, John Tom Bryant of Newton, Theo Bryant of Seabrine, Fla., and Paul Bryant of Lake Placid, Fla.; nine grandchildren and fourteen greatgrandchildren.

Robert married Augusta Smith on 28 Dec 1892 in Jasper, Jasper County, Texas. Augusta (daughter of Jasper Smith and Martha Swinney) was born on 6 Dec 1875 in Texas; died on 20 May 1910 in Jasper, Jasper County, Texas; was buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, Jasper, Jasper County, Texas. Married:
The 1900 census showed that she was the mother of 4 children, three still living. She and Manley had been married for 7 years. As of the 1910 census, it was indicated that they had been married 16 years, and that she was the mother of 8 children, 7 of whom were living. Laura Buckmaster shows 2 children not shown on the census. They are Mattie and Mary. One of these children may have been the child that died. But unless Augusta died in childbirth, it is unlikely their was a ninth child. The 1910 census was taken on the 21 Day of April, 1910. Gussie is shown as having died just a month later, on May 20, 1910.
