    The McLemore Burying Ground is about one mile off the Montgomery -Atlanta
    Highway to the right facing east, and is about five miles from Montgomery.
    It is on a knoll behind the old James McLemore home built about 1820. In
    1936 Mrs. Lizzie Taylor Dickerson occupied it. A low brick wall and
    iron fence surrounds the lot. Outside the main cemetery is another smaller
    one, also enclosed. There are graves of slaves and faithful servants, mostly
    unmarked outside all enclousures. Graves listed begin at the southwest
    corner of the plot.

James McLemore, IV and Mary Elizabeth Harper) was born on 14 Sep 1814 in Jones County, Georgia; died on 25 Jan 1870 in Montgomery County, Alabama; was buried in McLemore Taylor Burying Ground, Montgomery County, Alabama.     Andrew was said, in a biography of his son Moses, to have had three daughters by his first wife, Margaret Caffey. Robert Morris shows daughters M.E. (born 1838) and M.N. (born 1843).

    CAFFEY, JOHN, jr., planter, was born in Rockingham County, North Carolina, September 29, 1786, and died in Montgomery County, January 17, 1873; son of John and Mary (Buchanan) Caffey (q. v.) and brother of Thomas Caffey (q. v.), John Caffey jr., removed with his parents to Montgomery County in its early history. He was a planter and represented Montgomery County in the legislatures of 1842 and l843. Married: (1) Elizabeth Patrick; and (2) Miss Hardeman. Children by first marriage: 1. Hugh Madison, m. (1) Mary Ann Ashnrst, and (2) Matilda Jane Fenn; 2. Hooper Washington, d. unmarried; 3. John Patrick; 4. Margaret S., m. A. J. McLemore. Children: 1. Mary Elizabeth, and 2. Margaret, m. Wm. McGough; 5. Mary Patrick, m. (1) James Harper, and (2) Moses McLemore; 6. Benjamin Franklin, m. (1) Mary Fenn; (2) Caroline vol. m? 11 Baker; and (3) Mrs. Wynne; 7. Lafayette F.; 8. Sarah E., m.
