E.B. "RED" MCMILLIN RITES HELD IN WELSH ON MONDAY

JULY 25, 1970

The Welsh scene lost one of its outstanding and favorite citizens when funeral services were held for Elvis Buckner "Red" McMillin, 82 , retired rice farmer, were held at the first Baptist Church in Welsh on Monday, July 27 , at 10 a.m. with Rev.Russell Jamieson officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home.

Mr. McMillin had passed away early on Saturday morning, July 25 , at his home . A native of Auburn, Kentucky and a resident of the Welsh area for the past 65 years. He was widely known throughout our area and held in high repute by all ages.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. E.B. McMillin of Welsh; by one son, Eldridge H. McMillin of Welsh; by one daughter, Mrs. James Hall of Clinton, Iowa; by three sisters; Mrs. Rena Coles of Welsh, Mrs. George Bleitt and Mrs. Minor Adams both of Auburn, Kentucky; and by 18 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Elvis married Geneva May McLemore on 19 Nov 1907 in Logan County, Kentucky. Geneva (daughter of John Fielding McLemore and Mary Jane Maben) was born on 14 Sep 1886 in Auburn, Logan County, Kentucky; died on 25 Sep 1961 in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana; was buried in Oaklawn Cemetery, Welsh, Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana.
