    Duane was born on July 20, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Thomas Burdette Fike and Betty Ann Smith Fike Carrico. He worked as a welding foreman in the fabricating industry. He was a resident of Pasadena and a member of the Pasadena Masonic lodge before moving to Pineland seven years ago.

    Duane loved his grandchildren and he loved to aggravate them. When he wasn't playing with the grandkids, you could find him fixing up his '82 Corvette Stingray or out riding his Harley. He also enjoyed hunting.

    Duane is survived by his son, Bradley Fike and wife, Stacy, of DeQuincy, La.; daughter, Misty Bollich of Jasper; sisters, Audrey Harley and husband, Lonnie, of Pineland and Sharon Maples and husband, Ray, of Beaumont; four grandchildren, Rance, Ryle, Ty, and Seth; and one great grandchild, Preslie.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Fike; mother, Betty Ann Carrico; and brother, J. T. Fike.

    Betty Ann Carrico

    Funeral services for Betty Ann Carrico, 81, of Pineland, were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2009 at Strickland Crossing Church of God. Burial followed at Plainview Cemetery. Rev. Charles Moody and Rev. Vance Purtell officiated. She died on August 28, 2009 at Sabine County Hospital.

    Betty Ann Carrico was born in Granite Springs, NY on November 3, 1927. She was a LVN at Hemphill Care Center and a member of the Strickland Crossing Church of God.

    She is survived by her son, Duane Fike and wife Shelia, of Pasadena; daughters, Audrey Harley and husband, Lonnie, of Pineland and Sherry Beckham and husband, Valton, of Beaumont; brother, Charles Smith of Brooksville, FL; sister, Barbara Harmack of Dade City, FL; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

    Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill was in charge of arrangements.
