Her maiden name is assumed to be COX, and the widowed Mary Cox, age 66 and born in South Carolina was living with Ellen and her husband, James R. McLemore, at the time of the 1880 Jackson County, Alabama census. Additionally, a post to the Ancestry.com Message Boards>Surnames>McLemore>McLemore Family history cited the Cranford family bible as identifying her as Louise Ellen Cox.

Louise married James R. McLemore before 1877. James (son of William McLemore and Louisinda ???) was born on 6 Sep 1853 in Jackson County, Alabama; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

"william McLemore b. 4-4-1830 (don't know for sure where but in the south) father of james R. mcLemore b. 9-6-1853 married louise ellen cox b. 9-28-1853. james 7 Ellen had 3 chindren. (1 )Ida Dorthula McLemore b. 5-14-1877 d. 8-20-1935 (2) William Walter McLemore b. 4-5-1880 d. 3-6-1900 (3) mary malisa McLemore b.4-5-1880 d. 12-14-1901.

Ida maried Burr Alexander Cranford 8-28-1895 in Albrook, Arkansas. i got this information out of our Cranford family bible that my gggrandmother had written in."
