Esther Ross Mathews

Funeral for Esther Ross Mathews, 92, of San Augustine was at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Presbyterian Church, San Augustine. Burial was in Thomas Cemetery, San Augustine County.

Mathews died May 14, 2005, in her residence.

Born Feb. 24, 1913, in Huntsville, she was the daughter of Rogers Ross and Bennie Morgan. She had been a school teacher and was a member of San Augustine Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was married to Gilbert Mathews, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Beth Wright and Laurie Gilcrease, both of San Augustine; son, Rogers Mathews of Everett, Wash.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
