Published in The Paducah Sun, Paducah, McCracken Co, Ky., 23 Dec 2005 - BARDWELL, Ky. -- Helen Kelley Drysdale, age 73, of Bardwell died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at her home on Elsey Avenue in Bardwell. She was born Jan. 18, 1932, at the Kelley family homeplace on West Fork Creek in Carlisle County. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell.

Mrs. Drysdale graduated from Bardwell High School and attended college at Memphis State University. In April of 1950, she married Ed Drysdale of Fulton, a pharmacist, and she and her husband founded Drysdale's Drug Store on Front Street in Bardwell in the early 1950s, which they operated for nearly 35 years, until 1986. Ed Drysdale died in 1989. Helen was a member of Bardwell Baptist Church, and during Ed's life, had also regularly attended Bardwell Methodist Church.

She is survived by four children, Drew, Mark and Clay Drysdale and Jill Drysdale Taylor; and by four grandchildren, Mark's daughters, Sarah and Catherine, and Clay's son and daughter, Evan and Erin. She is also survived by one brother, Keith Kelley of Bardwell.
In addition to her husband, Ed Drysdale, Helen was also preceded in death by two sons, William Edgar Drysdale Jr. and Ed Kelley Drysdale, who both died in infancy. Both her parents, John M. and Cleo (Wooden) Kelley, and one brother, R.L. Kelley, also preceded her.
