Wonderful Jim Wood, who loved Pasadena and operated Strawberry Park Service Center here for more than 40 years, died Saturday, May 28th. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy J. Wood. He was survived by his son, Mike Wood and wife Mary Beth, his daughter Diane O'Neill and husband John, grandchildren, Dr. M. Todd Wood and wife Amy, Amy Wood Kuriger, Claire Wood, and Aidan Wood. He was also survived by his Great Grandchildren: Quinn, Connor, Alexander, Samantha, Catherine, and Spenser.

He grew up near Nacogdoches in a family with deep Texas roots. After a semester of Texas A & M, he joined the U.S. Army during WW2 at age 18 as a scout and marksman with the Field Artillery, serving in the invasion of Luzon. He was practicing as a member of the first landing wave in the invasion of Kyushu in Japan when news came of Truman's decision to bomb Hiroshima which he believed saved his life and millions of others. Harry Truman was the only Democrat he ever voted for. He vowed if he survived WW2 he would never again leave Texas and, except for two short trips to Louisiana for grandkids, he never did.

He was the rock upon which his family stood and for more than 40 years he operated honestly and effectively Strawberry Park Service Center beloved by his customers.
He was deeply a Christian believer and encircled in his Bible from 2 Timothy. : "My life is poured out like a drink. I have fought the good fight. I have run the race to the finish. I have kept the faith. Now I shall have the crown."

In his 90 years, he lived a generous, full and giving life. His family and world are lessened by his passing.
