    Well Known McComb Man Dies Early Monday at Mother's Home

    William P. Habig, well known McComb man, died the morning of December 14, 1936 at the home of his mother on Easy Street.

    Mr. Habig was a veteran of the World War, serving in the U. S. Navy in foreign waters for two and a half years. For a number of years he was employed by the I.C.R.R. as a machinist, working in McComb and in Paducah, Kentucky.

    Mr. Habig was a man widely known and esteemed by a host of friends. News of his death was received with deep regret.

    Surviving are one son, William P. Habig, Jr., of Greenwood; his mother, Mrs. Louise M. Spiller, McComb; three sisters, Mrs. C. B. Morton, Jackson; Mrs. W. J. C. Wiemers, Sanitorium; and, Mrs Dl H. Mackay, Dallas, Texas; one brother, Paul M. Habit, Jackson.

    Notes:

    Rachel Habig emailed, in February 2019, that she knew for a fact that her "2nd great grandmother was names Ary White, after Ary Felder Moore, Mary's aunt. Ary White had a twin sister named Elizabeth "Bessie" White. (My aunt is named "Ary Elizabeth" after them). Due to whatever circumstances, they weren't always in the same household growing up making it tough to research."

    On the 1880 census, Ary and Bessie, both shown as age 3, where living with W. W. Moore and Ary A. Moore in Pike County, Mississippi. They were listed as Nieces of Ary Moore. Two of their cousins, also lived with WW and Ary Moore, 15 year old Ida Felder, and 7 year old WIll Gardner.

    On the 1900 Federal Census enumeration, Bessie, age 23, as living with her parents in McComb, Mississippi. She was shown as being born in Jan 1877 in Mississippi.

    In the next household, Ary Martin, the wife of Albert, was also shown as born in Jan 1877 in Mississippi. She and Albert had been married for one year.

    Shown in Louisiana, Wills and Probate Records, 1775-1984, Succession File No. 2322-2380, 1914-1915, for Mary C. White, as one of eight surviving children of her parents, viz "Mrs. Ary Martin, wife of Albert A. Martin, residents of Pike County, Mississippi."
