Larry Joe McDaniel, 67, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at his residence.

Larry was born in Jasper, Texas on August 10, 1954 to Gay Alex McDaniel and Evelyn Brooks McDaniel. He was a lifetime resident of Sabine County and a graduate of Hemphill ISD. He worked as a handyman in Hemphill which gave him the opportunity to visit with everyone around town. He liked to fish occasionally, but his favorite thing to do by far was talking to, laughing with, and joking around with his many friends and loved ones. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all.

Larry is survived by his brother, Glenn McDaniel and wife, Lisa, of Milam; sister, Linda McSwain of Hemphill; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gay and Evelyn McDaniel.

Graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

Serving as pallbearers are Alex McSwain, Nick McSwain, Miles McDaniel, Jeremy McDaniel, Darren Lowe and Connor McDaniel.

Evelyn Brooks McDaniel, of Hemphill, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her home in Hemphill. She was born May 20, 1932 in Burkeville Texas to Taylor Brooks. She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of East Mayfield Baptist Church.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Glenn McDaniel and wife Lisa of Hemphill and Larry McDaniel of Hemphill; her daughter Linda McSwain of Hemphill; her sister Ethel Jordan of Magnolia Texas; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, February 12, at Starr Funeral Home. Funerals Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, February 13, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services to follow at Oakhill Cemetery.
