Mildred was born September 8, 1922 to Vernon and Susie Shelton in Eakly, Oklahoma. She was raised along with her brother, Jack, in Eakly and graduated from Eakly High School in 1940. In 1940 she married Woodrow McLemore and they moved to Bakersfield in 1941. Together they had three children, Margaret (Peggy), Steven, and Ted McLemore.

Mildred loved being a homemaker and was active in her childrens' school and sports activities. In 1962 Mildred went back to school and obtained her cosmetology license. Later in life she became interested in painting and studied at Mize Galleries for many years. She painted many beautiful pictures that are enjoyed by her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and visiting with her family.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Susie Shelton, brother Jack Shelton, and her husband Woodrow McLemore. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Albitre (Mike), son Steve McLemore and son Ted McLemore (Lori), niece Shelia Shelton, grandchildren Tony Bonner (Kelly), Moira Myronenko (Dan), Megan McCort (Matt), Scott McLemore (Courtney), and great grandsons Kyle Bonner and Devin Albitre. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 1st. at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. www.bakersfield.com/obits
