Phillip Horton Beddoe

Notes:

Said to have come to Texas circa 1844. His occupation on the 1850 census was shown as saddler & farmer. He was living next to his brother.

Ancestry.com shows that he was a Confederate Soldier, enlisting as a Private in Company K, Nineteenth Regiment of Texas. His Texas Muster Roll Index card showed that he enlisted in January 1863 in San Augustine. His estimated year of birth was 1825.

Phillip married Martha Clark about 1850 in Sabine County, Texas. Martha (daughter of Elijah Clark and Unknown First Wife Of Elijah Clark) was born about 1837 in Republic Of Texas; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

3. Malina C. Beddoe was born about 1854 in Sabine County, Texas; and died.
4. Eliza W. Beddoe was born about 1856 in Louisiana; and died.
5. Robert Lewis Beddoe was born about 1858 in Louisiana; and died.

Notes:

Philip Tolbert Beddoe was Malvina Parr Beddoe's grandfather. He was the head of the American branch of the Beddoe family. On your page, you list him as being born "before 1802" and dying "yes, unknown." He was actually born in England on 19 July 1790 and he died in 1861 in Sabinetown, Texas. He is buried in Sabinetown.

He married Catherine Parr on 10 February 1820 in Moravintown, NC. [possibly Wachovia, North Carolina, settled by Moravian around 1753]. She died in 1873. Their son, Earl Percy Beddoe was born 30 January 1822. His daughter Malvina Parr Beddoe was born 18 August 1844. She married Pedras Philip Davidson 17 September 1865.

Virgie Speights writes that Philip Tolbert Beddoe was one of six children born in East Tennessee to Thomas Beddoe, a son of Charles Beddoe and Lydia Nash of Withypool, England, who came to America and settled first in Philadelphia, later moving to Tennessee.

At the time of the 1870 census, she was living with her son's family, Earl Beddoe in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. John W. Clark writes that she was buried in Chatfield, Texas. Virgie Speights writes that she was descended from Sir Thomas Parr of England, a relative of the Catherine Parr who married Henry the XIII.
