    Married:
    Mary, born 1859, married John JESS July 5, 1876, in the home of the Justice of the Peace Francis M. Shirley. They had six children: Mary was the first wife of Frank BURES, Anna married her couisn, Joseph JESS, Jr.; Emil; Valentine, Emma married Joe BARTA and a baby, born June 6, 1887, died September 15, 1887. Mary Jess died June 12, 1887. John Jess married (2) Frances ZDENEK January 26, 1888 and they moved to the State of Washington some time later (Milligan, p. 375).

    It is possible that the date of their marriage may be incorrect, as their oldest daughter was born in either September 1874 or September 1875. The actual records should be examined if possible.

    Notes:

    He served in the Union Army before taking a homestead. After several years, he sold the land to his son-in-law, John HROMADKA, for $600. Returned to Europe alone, and never returned. (Milligan, p. 376).

    John married Josephine Hrudicka before 1859 in Bohemia. Josephine was born before 1841 in Bohemia; died on 7 Feb 1899 in Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]


  2. 3.  Josephine Hrudicka was born before 1841 in Bohemia; died on 7 Feb 1899 in Fillmore County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian Brethren Cemetery (AKA Cesky Bratri Cemetery), Fillmore County, Nebraska.

    Married:
    John and Josephine came from Kejic, Bohemia to the United States in 1860. The trip took six weeks. Theire first stop in Nebraska was Nebraska City. They later settled on a homestead, the E 1/2 SE 1/4 in Section 26, Liberty Township, Fillmore County. (Milligan, p. 375).
