Elton McDaniel, Sr., 93, of Many, died Tuesday; services at 2 pm Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church, Many; burial in Zion Hill Cemetery; arrangements through Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many.

It is also noted on this memorial page that he married twice, and was the father of three children.

Laura Buckmaster shows that he married in 1901 Mollie Emma Dainwood (dtr of John Andrew Dainwood and Almedia Love). Her dates are shown as 1887-1956. Barbara Yancey Dore also shows this first marriage.

Jackson L "Jack" McDaniel, 91, of Many died in Hines Nursing Home in Pineland, Sabine, Texas, at 1 am on Thursday, Jan. 8 1981, following a short illness.

Survivors: sons, Leon J McDaniel, Elton W McDaniel and Robert L McDaniel, all of Negreet; and James T McDaniel of Leesville; one sister, Gracy Urban of Shreveport; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Services held at Warren Meadows Funeral Chapel on Friday, Jan 9 @ 11 am, Rev. B J Tidwell, Sr. officiated. Burial in Zion Hill Baptist Cemetery under direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fannie McDaniel, 81, of Many, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 1973, at 8:40 am after an extended illness.

She is survived by her husband, J L McDaniel of Many; four sons, Leon J McDaniel and Elton W McDaniel, both of Negreet; James T McDaniel of Rosepine; and Robert Lee McDaniel of Leesville; two brothers, Lonnie Busby and Clevie Busby, both of Hemphill, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Services conducted Nov 1 @ 2 pm in Warren Meadows Chapel, Rev. Jeff Tidwell officiated. Burial in Zion Hill Baptist Cemetery, Negreet.

Nancy (daughter of Jesse Thomas Scruggs, Jr. and Gracie Berintha Harper) was born on 25 Sep 1857 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 21 Jan 1944 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana; was buried in Little Flock Cemetery, Toro, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. She was living with her son Jackson, in Negreet, LA as of the 1930 census. In 1940, she was living with son Wesley, on Fairdale Road in Sabine County.

Notes:

Robert Cecil McDaniel, a descendant, wrote in his autobiography that "My McDaniel ancestors migrated west from the Edgefield District near Spartanburg, South Carolina, and apparently stopped for a time in Mississippi. They were enumerated in the federal census of 1850, both in Itwambia County, Mississippi, and in Sabine County, Texas." He also indicated that they settled in the community later to be known as Fairdale, in the southeastern part of Sabine County.
