    Sam (Tex) McDaniel, of San Augustine, rode a steer named Barker all the way from Texas to New York. He and the 1200 pound steer then flew from New York to Washington, D.C. where President Franklin D. Roosevelt congratulated. him.

    Note: It appears, but has not been verified, that the Sam McDaniel mentioned above is the same person as the Sam McDaniel who is the son of William Frazier McDaniel and Sarah Pinkney Hargroves.

    In her annotated transcription of the Mill Creek Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary shows that there is also a burial marker for" J. L. M.," who was said by Noble Terrence Smith to be a brother of his mother, Minnie Mozelle Smith. There are no dates, and his initials to not match the initials of their known children. He may have been born and died so young that his information was never recorded. As their are no date, the order of his birth is not known.

    Said to be the daughter of Samuel B. Windham and Leah Blake of Scott County, Mississippi. A sister of Dr. J.D. Windham of Center and Thos. Windham. (White and Toole, p 47).

    Her memorial page on FindAGrave, created by Kay Parker McCary, shows that she was born in Alabama versus Georgia (a shown on the 1850 census). It also has her linked to Samuel B. Windham and Leah Blake's memorial pages, and shows she was married first to Frederick A. Thomas, and the mother of Leah Susan Ann THOMAS Dainwood, as well as being the mother of Samuel William McDaniel.
