Notes:

Listed in 1861 as having six or more slaves. and is listed in many court papers regarding tutorship of members of his family or in land transactions. Robert Flannagan, age 18, was living in their household in Sabine Parish at the time of the 1850 census. (Casagranda, 1850 Census, 86).

The History of Sabine Parish, Louisiana (author John Belisle, The Sabine Banner Press, 1912) states that "in 1860 the white population of Sabine Parish numbers about four thousant, and there were less than two thousand slaves. There were few really wealthy people in the parish, and many owned not more than one of two slaves." The owners of six or more in 1861 included Nathan and Mary Cook; James Cook.

3. William Morris Cook was born on 2 Jan 1854 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana; died on 15 Jun 1940 in Center, Shelby County, Texas; was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Center, Shelby County, Texas.
4. Mary Lavinia Cook was born about 1857 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana; and died.
5. Nathan M. Cook was born about 1859 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana; and died.

Thought to be a son of Drury COOK and Druscilla COLLINGSWORTH, and a brother to Greenberry COOK, who married Nancy MORRIS, a sister his wife, Temperance MORRIS. Rocky Wright believes a third brother, Thomas, settled in Pike County, Mississippi.

William married Temperance Morris. Temperance was born about 1780; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
