    Notes:

    Emil was a trucker for several years, owned and operated a restaurant, and did carpenter work for many people. He and his brother Bill built various dwellings around the community. He was one of the first volunteer firemen and served the town of Milligan for 68 years. He was a charter member of the Knight of Pythias and a member of the ZCBJ Lodge. His nickname was "Skelly."     Tonie was born in Milligan in a hotel which stood on the corner of downtown. She lived in different houses while growing up, one being a valley house where her sister Alice was born. She was Catholic and sang in the choir. She attended school through the tenth grade. (Milligan, p 291).

    Notes:

    John W. HAVEL was the son of Catherine PETRICKA and Jacob HAVEL. He immigrated to Minnesota in 1867. An August 28, 1903 issue of the Milligan Times it was written that "He was a member of the Posse that chased the Jesse James gang out of Minnesota after they had looted a bank." His obituary noted that "He was a carpenter by trade and many buildings hereabouts will long attest to his labors; but at the time of his death he was farming on his place in Liberty Township." (Milligan, p 295).
