Sarah Hester Haynes

In a phone conversation with Melinda McLemore Strong, Nan McCoy Kittel, the second great grandaughter of Sarah Hester Haynes (wife of Elmer Augustus Horn) noted that Sarah Hester Haynes (Nan's ancestor) was sometimes mixed up with her Aunt, Sarah Elizabeth Haynes, the wife of William Rufus Hester. In fact her middle name was a tribute to her Aunt's husband.

Family Search shows that Sarah Elizabeth Haynes (L7GX-RHX) was a younger sister of Young Phelps. Sarah Elizabeth (born ca 1844 in Alabama) and Rufus Hester were also residents of Jasper, Texas.

Sarah married Elmer Augustus Horn on 17 Dec 1868 in Tyler County, Texas. Elmer (son of Aurin Goodgame Horn and Eleanor Deckle) was born on 7 Apr 1842 in Georgia; died on 5 Aug 1920 in Magnolia Springs, Jasper County, Texas; was buried in Magnolia Springs, Jasper County, Texas. Barbara Yancey Dore instead shows his first marriage to Lovenia Storey. No references are cited, and this appears to be in error.

1. Mary Palmyra Horn was born on 15 Oct 1869 in Magnolia Springs, Jasper County, Texas; died after 1888 in Jasper County, Texas; was buried in Magnolia Springs Cemetery, Magnolia Springs, Jasper County, Texas.
2. William Augustus Horn was born in May 1872 in Texas; died before 1930 in Texas.

Young Phelps Haynes may have died in Noxubee County, Mississippi, prior to May 1854, as a Probate File related to his estate can be found on Family Search
