    Services for Dorothy LaVern Stamper, 93, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

    Born March 1, 1913, at Whiteright, Texas, to Willie Trenton and Ester Murphy Henderson, she died May 27, 2006, at Kimberling City, Mo. Her beloved husband, Bill Stamper, preceded her in death Sept. 14, 1966.

    She graduated from Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, in May 1937. She met her husband, Bill, at Cameron Junior College in Lawton and he taught her the gospel. They were married Oct. 10, 1937, at Duncan. They had two children, Clint Stamper and Kay Istre.
    They moved to Ardmore in 1941 and worshiped at Central Church of Christ. They were actually part of that church planting and Bill was one of the original elders. LaVern taught fifth grade at Dickson and third grade at Lincoln Elementary School at Ardmore for a total of 28 years and retired in 1978. She moved to Abilene, Texas, and then on July 5, 2004, she moved to Tablerock Health Care Alzheimer's Unit at Kimberling City, where she lived until her death.

    Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Sanders, Linn, Kan., and Betty Seidlitz, Kerrville, Texas; her two children, Clint Stamper, and his wife, Vickie, Kimberling City, and Kay Istre and her husband, Elvis, Abilene. Her grandchildren, Kim and Randy Hancock, Abilene; Brad and Holly Morrisett, Edmond, Kara and Scott Corley, Vancouver, Wash., Renee and Marty Cobarruvias, Abilene, Lance and Jennifer Morrisett, Haven, Kan., and Melissa and Greg Buckovatz, Springfield, Mo. and 17 great-grandchildren.

    Visitation is 7-8 p.m. Monday.

William (son of William Clint "Clint" Stamper and Marie Audrey Bush) was born on 16 Mar 1916 in Wizard Wells, Jack County, Texas; died on 14 Sep 1966 in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.
