Shown as born in New York on the 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900 census. However, the 1850 census does show her place of birth as Wisconsin. In 1900, she was living with her son and daugher-in-law, Fremont and Ellen Cross, in Cambria, Columbia County, Wisconsin.

Hannah married William Wallace Cross on 31 Dec 1855. William was born on 16 Aug 1832 in New York; died on 11 Dec 1897 in West Greenfield, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; was buried in Honey Creek Cemetery, West Allis, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Emma Loa Cross was born on 7 Mar 1860 in Greenfield, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; died on 9 Oct 1898 in Greenfield, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
3. Clarence Ruben Cross was born on 25 Sep 1870 in Wisconsin; died on 7 Nov 1897 in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; was buried in Honey Creek Cemetery, West Allis, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

Dwight lists him as "a farmer in Greenfield, Milwaukee Co., Wis., m. Pamela FULLER, sister to his father's second wife." (Dwight, p 194).

Reuben was the first deacon of The First Baptist Church of West Allis, which was organized by Elder Richard Griffing in 1836, the first organized religion to establish itself in the area. The church struggled its first few years, trying to hold firm in its existence, but, finally, in May 1841 the 37 charter members voted to disband and reorganize in North Greenfield (now West Allis). On June 2, 1841, delegates met at the home of Eber Cornwall and established the Baptist Church of Greenfield. In its early years the church formed a circuit of three nearby churches under one pastor. Services were held in Cornwall's home, then in a schoolhouse and later in a building on land owned by Reuben Strong, the first deacon of the church. A church building was finally erected in 1869 at South 83rd Street and West National Avenue under the leadership of Rev. Enoch Underwood. When the Madison Division of the Northwestern Railroad was built through West Allis in 1883, the building was relocated to south 84th Street and West Mitchell Street.(http://www.firstbaptistwestallis.org/history.html)

Benjamin STRONG, brother of Josiah jr. and Joshua, was born February 15, 1759, married November 27, 1782, Susannah TROWBRIDGE, and settled in Middle Haddam, where he died about 1818. His children were: Reuben, born October 6, 1783, and Benjamin, born 1785, both lost at sea November 19, 1809, when sailing to Norfolk, Virginia; Susan, who married Oliver ACKLEY; Ansel, who married Hannah STOCKING; Rhoda, who married Alfred HUBBARD, and Lovina, who married Chauncey B. BULKLEY. Braddock Strong resided on the homestead, and filled various offices at profit and trust in the gift of his fellow townsmen, dying September 30, 1878, nearly 79 years of age, universally respected.
