George Barney Coons

Notes:

The 1930 Census shows that George and Stella were married and were living in Port Arthur, Texas. He was shown as owning his home, worth $10,000. He was the proprietor of a Cafe, and she was a waitress at a Cafe, presumably his. George may have been previously married, as his age at the time of his first marriage was 32. Stella would have only been 16 at the time--and at the time of the 1920 Census, she was listed as still living with her parent's in Wyoming, and listed as being age 17.

Living with George and Stella in 1930 was 18 year old Floyd D. NICHOLS, Nephew. He born in Montana to parents both born in Michigan. Both George, and his parents, were born in Michigan as well. Floyd was a bell-boy at a hotel.

FindAGrave indicates that his parents were Andrew Phillip COONS and Emma Josephine DIETZ.

George married Stella Alice Kuykendall on 16 Dec 1922. Stella (daughter of George G. Kuykendall and Orinda Alice Cowdrey) was born on 11 Mar 1902 in Osage City, Osage County, Kansas; died on 16 Jul 1939 in Jefferson County, Texas; was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. 1. Elmo George Coons was born on 11 May 1933 in New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana; died on 7 Oct 1988 in Victoria, Victoria County, Texas; was buried in Memory Gardens, Victoria, Victoria County, Texas.
