Rev William P. McLemore wrote that "Mike dated my sister, Ann Schindler McLemore, when we were attending Hampton High School in Hampton, Virginia, in the early 1950's. Both of our fathers were stationed at Fort Monroe at the time. They were married shortly after he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1959." After Ann's death in 1991, he married second Karen Biddle, at St. John's Episcopal in Roseville, California, on 28 August 2004. He died at home in Linoln, California, after an extended illness. Michael was a Lt. Col in the US Army.

Michael married Anne Schindler McLemore on 12 Jun 1959. Anne (daughter of Ephraim Hester McLemore and Edith Adeline "Peggy" Pearman) was born on 12 Sep 1939 in West Point, Orange County, New York; died on 2 Sep 1991 in San Francisco County, California; was buried in San Franciso National Cemetery (Presidio), San Francisco, San Francisco County, California.
