Lizzie Cagle

Notes:

At the time of the 1900 census, the widowed Lizzie Cagle was living in the adjoining household to Joseph Fairchild, also widowed. It appears as if she may have been working as his housekeeper. According to Merritt Mullen, they were married in 1901, and Lizzie died in 1902. Shortly after Lizzie died, Joseph married her oldest daughter, Mamie.

When Lizzie's son, Walter, applied for his social security account in 1940, he listed his parents as "Jesse CAGLE and Lizzie CAGLE (same name)." It appears that he did this on purpose, so perhaps his parents were cousins? It could also be that he simply was unaware of his mother's maiden name. Further research should be done to verify this.

2. Walter Cagle was born on 27 Sep 1885 in Hazlehurst, Copiah County, Mississippi; died in Jan 1966.
3. Jesse Cagle was born in May 1889 in Mississippi; and died.
4. Maggie M. Cagle was born in Jun 1893 in Mississippi; and died.
5. Sexton Cagle was born in Aug 1897 in Mississippi; and died.

Lizzie married Joseph S. Fairchild on 18 Oct 1901 in Copiah County, Mississippi. Joseph (son of Abraham Lundy Fairchild, Sr. and Lavinia McLemore) was born on 16 May 1850 in Perry County, Mississippi; died on 5 Dec 1914 in Lawrence County, Mississippi; was buried in Fox-Arrington Cemetery, Wanilla, Lawrence County, Mississippi.
