Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Olive Bramhall was born about 1793 in New York (daughter of Joseph Bramhall and Experience Blackburn); died on 5 Apr 1847 in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Joseph Bramhall was born on 4 Jan 1751 in Massachusetts; was christened on 23 Nov 1753 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts (son of Captain Joseph Bramhall and Sarah Tilson); died about 1805 in Delaware County, New York.

    Notes:

Frank J. Bramhall shows that he died in Whitesborough, now Meredith, New York. Sarah Bramhall Biles showed that he had lived in Dutchess County, New York prior to this.

A Joseph Bramhall, who died "in his 62nd year" on 17 Sept 1805 is among the Bramhalls' buried at the Burial Hill in Plymouth. This may or may not be the same Joseph that was the son of Capt. Joseph Bramhall and Sarah Tilson. The date of death matches, but the birth year is off (1743 vs. 1751). It is also possible that as Joseph died in Delaware County, New York, he might also have been buried there.

Joseph married Experience Blackburn on 31 Mar 1774 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Experience was born on 18 May 1750 in Rochester Township, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; died on 16 Sep 1823 in Pennsylvania. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Experience Blackburn was born on 18 May 1750 in Rochester Township, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; died on 16 Sep 1823 in Pennsylvania.

    Notes:

Sarah Bramhall Biles shows that her maiden name may have instead been Blackman or Blackmer. She also noted that after Joseph Bramahll died, Experience moved her family to Franklin, Delaware County, New York.

  1. 4.  Captain Joseph Bramhall was born on 20 Dec 1714 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts (son of Joshua Bramhall and Sarah Rider); died between 1751 and 1758 in Jamaica, West Indies.

    Notes:

Sarah Bramhall Biles and Eileen Bramhall Have both show that he was a Sea Captain, dying in Jamaica ca 1751. FindAGrave instead lists his date of death as 26 Jan 1758, in the West Indies, near Jamaica. Further notes on the website show he died "In his 36th year. Husband of Mrs. Sarah Bramhall." A photo of a gravemarker is not shown on FindAGrave.

Ron Romano notes that Capt. Joseph Bramhall was indexed as being buried a the "Old Burial Hill" in Plymounth, Mass.

Joseph married Sarah Tilson on 26 Nov 1747 in Massachusetts. Sarah was born about 1729 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; died on 26 Jan 1754 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; was buried in Burial Hill, Plymouth, (AKA Pilgrims Cemetery, AKA Old Plymoutn), Plymouth County, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Sarah Tilson was born about 1729 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; died on 26 Jan 1754 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; was buried in Burial Hill, Plymouth, (AKA Pilgrims Cemetery, AKA Old Plymoutn), Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

James W. Bramhall posted " I found grave sites for my eighth great grandparents in the Pilgrims Cemetary Plymouth, MA on both sides. I also found Sarah Tillson's grave site. The grave sites are #444, #445 & #453. I also have found a tax record for George Bramhall in Dover, MA "1650" much earlier than the 1680 time frame reported in the "Bramhalls in America" book. I have also found lineage from the Mayflower through Sarah Tillson's mother who is buried next to Sarah. On her grave stone, it indicated that she was the only daughter of Col. Tom Doty. Tom Doty is a direct decendant of Edward Doty of the Mayflower."

FindAGrave has an iamge of the tombstone, but it is very difficult to read. They note it is inscribed "In her 25th year. "Relict" to Capt. Joseph Bramhall. However, that website instead shows her as a daughter of Edmund TILSON and Elizabeth COOPER, for whom there are also memorials. Her siblings are shows as Hannah Tilson CHANDLER, Perez TILSON, and Elizabeth Tilson RANDALL.

Joseph was a sea captain, his wife is buried in the old Plymouth cemetary between her niece and sister-in-law. Perez was her brother. Also near, is Joseph's Parents Joshua and Sarah Ryder Bramhall. Joseph and Sarah Tilson Bramhall had three children. Joseph's wife Sarah died three years after him in Jan. 26, 1754. Have not been able to determine who rasied the children. Joseph, their second son, took his family to Meredith, NY and opened an inn on the Catskill Turnpike. I am a decendent of that second Joseph.

Generation: 4

  1. 8.  Joshua Bramhall was born on 26 Mar 1682 in Cumberland County, Maine (son of George Bramhall and Martha Beard); died on 21 Jun 1763 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; was buried in Burial Hill, Plymouth, (AKA Pilgrims Cemetery, AKA Old Plymoutn), Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Joshua Bramhall was a clothier (id est cloth man, fr.) and owned a fulling mill in Plymouth; was a man of great energy and business capacity, and accumulated a large property. In 1729 he moved from Plymouth to Falmouth, and lived on the farm left by his father George Bramhall, until 1759, when he again returned to Plymouth, where he lived until his death in 1763. The large property left by his father remained in the family until 1759, when it was sold by the heirs to William Vaughn, and it is probable that the purpose of Joshua's removal to Falmouth in 1729, was to effect an advantageous sale of the property, and to close up the settlement of his father's estate. For further particulars of the life of Joshua Bramhall, see "Landmarks of Plymouth" by William T. Davis. See also letter of W.T. Davis (the historian) to W.L. Bramhall, Plymouth, Mass., Dec 4th 1886.)
