In 1920, he lived with his parents and older brother, Roy, in Detroit. As of the 1930 census Earl E. Castator was a boarder in the home of Charles and Cora Lyons, Berlin Township, Monroe County, Michigan. He was shown as age 20, single, born in Ohio, and with parents parents shown as being born in Kentucky. His occupation was that of assembly man at an auto factory. Several of the other boarders also were employed in the auto industry.
