Casagranda shows that he died 15 Aug 1866 in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. However, he and his wife and namesake son appear to be listed on the 1870 and 1880 DeSoto Parish census enumerations, so this date apparently is not correct.

Thought to be a son of Drury COOK and Druscilla COLLINGSWORTH, and a brother to Greenberry COOK, who married Nancy MORRIS, a sister his wife, Temperance MORRIS. Rocky Wright believes a third brother, Thomas, settled in Pike County, Mississippi.
