  1. 1.  James Nye Mangum was born on 4 Apr 1907 in Upshur County, Texas; died on 25 Nov 1987 in Upshur County, Texas; was buried in Chilton Cemetery, Big Sandy, Upshur County, Texas.

    Notes:

Census records show he usually went by his middle name of Nye.

He and Eunice share a double gravestone at the Chilton Cemtery in Big Sandy. Also sharing a double marker at this same cemetery are Mancial M. Mangum and Julia Isabelle Mangum. There are no other Mangum burials at Chilton on FindAGrave. These appear to be Nye's parents, as the 1930 federal census enumeration of Big Sandy, Upshur County, Texas shows a household consisting of 50 year old M. M. and Belle Mangum, along with 23 year old Nye and 8 year old Rose. All four of them were born in Texas, and M. M. Mangum was the proprietor of an auto repair shop, with 23 year old Nye being a laborer at this shop. This enumeration was done on April 17, 1930, just about four months prior to the date Nye and Eunice were said to have married.

James married Eunice Caroline Smith on 30 Aug 1930 in Texas. Eunice (daughter of Thomas Reynolds Smith and Fannie Phylonia Edgar) was born on 29 Sep 1911 in Milam, Sabine County, Texas; died on 20 Mar 1991 in Upshur County, Texas; was buried in Chilton Cemetery, Big Sandy, Upshur County, Texas.
