    Beatrice Rogers Weaver, 96, of Hemphill and a forty-five year resident of Lumberton passed from this life to meet her Savior on Tuesday January 17, 2017 in Hemphill, Texas.

    Beatrice was born on September 3, 1920 in Sabine County, Texas to the late Miles Watson McDaniel and Ola McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her first husband; Coy Rogers, her daughter; Wanda Faye Harvill, her second husband; Houston Weaver, two brothers; Gay McDaniel, Wayne McDaniel, three sisters; Winnie Smith, Gladys Willis, and Mildred Hooks.

    She is survived by her son; Robbie Coy Rogers, step-children, Houston Weaver, Jr., Donald Weaver, Carol Nichols, Linda Ross, grandchildren; Angie Harvill, Ashley Fiello, Justin Rogers, and several great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

    She enjoyed crocheting, playing dominoes, and traveling. Beatrice was a faithful, longtime and founding member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton, Texas and in 2010 upon her move to Hemphill, Texas she became a member of the First Baptist Church.

    Visitation will be held on Saturday January 21, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

    In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hemphill Care Center P.O. Box 1527, 2000 Highway 83 West, Hemphill, Texas, 75948 in honor of Mrs. Weaver.

    Notes:

    Robert Cecil McDaniel, a descendant, wrote in his autobiography that "My McDaniel ancestors migrated west from the Edgefield District near Spartanburg, South Carolina, and apparently stopped for a time in Mississippi. They were enumerated in the federal census of 1850, both in Itwambia County, Mississippi, and in Sabine County, Texas." He also indicated that they settled in the community later to be known as Fairdale, in the southeastern part of Sabine County.

    William Ferguson, pension application 3543, approved October 12, 1899. Date of pension application July 18, 1899. He is 72 years of age and resided in Oakdale, Texas for 66 years. He is in very bad health and a farmer. He enlisted about June 1, 1863 with Company D, Cooks's Regiment, Heavy Artillery and served until the end of the war. He has two cows valued at $16, one year old yearling value $5, one calf worth $4, one horse worth $20, 10 head of hogs valued at $10. In the past two year he has sold one yearling for $5. V.H. Vickers, County Judge. W.T. Pulliam and J.O. Davidson witnesses. Dr. D.M. Cooper states that the applicant is in poor health with chronic colic and general nervous prostration.
