Guy Brendon Husband

Mr. Guy Husband, age 73, devoted husband and loving father, of Zavalla, Texas, died in Lufkin, Texas, on October 25, 2014. He was born in San Augustine County, Texas to the late Guy Amon and Gladys (Pinkston) Husband.

Guy began school in the Goodwin School and later, when the school districts consolidated, he went to Broaddus. He was of the Pentecostal faith, attending the Broaddus United Pentecostal Church of Broaddus, Texas. He had worked as a barber, but his main occupation became buying and selling real estate in the area. He and his wife Charolette wer able to take several cruises to Alaska, sometimes taking along their great-nephew, Reese Rushing.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Charlotte Rushing Husband of Zavalla; sons, Brent Husband of Huntington and Stewart & Becky Husband of Zavalla; sister, Quibie Smith of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Mark, Josh, Cara, Austin, Anna and Adam; and great-nephew, Reese Rushing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Guy Husband; brothers, Buford, Cornelius, and Glenn; and sister, Nina.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at the Broaddus United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Mark Green officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, October 2

FindAGrave shows that he has a military marker, inscribed with his name and dates, a cross, and Washington, Cpl US Army, World War I.

Guy married Mary Gladys Pinkston before 1929. Mary was born on 18 Oct 1906 in San Augustine County, Texas; died on 27 Jan 1983; was buried in Upper Chireno Cemetery, Chireno, Nacogdoches County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Davis married Mary Susanna Graham. Mary was born on 18 Jan 1860 in Alabama; died on 16 Jul 1937 in San Augustine County, Texas; was buried in Black Jack Cemetery, Lilbert, Nacogdoches County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

US Confederate Soldiers Compiled Service Records, 1861-1865, show that he enlised in 1862 and served in the Thirty-Seventh Infantry, H-La. The Civil War Service Records database on Ancestry.com shows he was in Co. K, 37 Mississippi Infantry, and his rank at induction and discharge was 1 Sergeant.

Paula Jones shows that he died in 1862 in Jasper County, Mississippi. Civil War Prisoner of War Records shows that an A. Husbands surrendered on May 4, 1865, and was paroled on May 17, 1865 in Meridian, Mississippi. A. Husband was a Pvt in Company A, from Smith County, Mississippi. Likely these are two different A. Husbands, but all records should be further examined.

Augustus married Mary Ann "Polly" McBay. Mary was born between 1828 and 1832 in Alabama; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Married:
David,your great, great, great grandfather was Augustus Lewallen(various spellings)Husbands. He was a soldier in the Confederate Army when he was killed. I don't think that anyone but God knows where he is buried. So many bodies were just left on the battlefield at that time. His wife was Mary Ann "Polly" McBay, and she is apparently buried in an unmarked grave. The courthouse of the county where they lived was burned leaving very few records. Their children were taken in by Lewis and Susan (McBay} Gaddy and one of their sons. Susan was a sister of their mother.

My grandfather was Davis(not David) Beauregard Husbands.

And, another thing, your grandfather was Charles Francis Husband. He told me that himself. He considered Francis to be a "girl's name" and never used it. The kids used to tease him about it so he didn't like the name. You can contact me anytime. I will be glad to help all I can.
