    Jenny Faye Chance Conn Wall, 61, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016, in the St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Beaumont, Texas. Jenny was born in Jay, Florida to James Dan and Nelda Mae Kelly Chance. She was a Nurse Practitioner for Batson Family Health Clinic. She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

    She is survived by her mother Nelda Chance of Hemphill, her sons: Jason Conn and wife Stephanie of Huntington, Texas and Addison Quinn of Batson, Texas, her daughter Shannon Clements and husband Archie of Nacogdoches, Texas, her sisters: Dianne Brown and husband Truett of Converse, Louisiana, Gladystine Randolph and husband Butch of Rosevine, Betty Stabbs and husband Mike of Groves, Texas, and Mary Perimon and husband Billy of Hemphill, her grandchildren: Justin, Colton, Lauren, Cody, Jeremy, Jasper, and Savanna, her great grandchildren: Kaysen, Landree, and Scarlett.

    She is preceded in death by her father J.D. Chance and sister Nellie Chance.
    Visitation will be from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, Sunday, March 27, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St. Hemphill, Texas. Funeral service will be at 11:00AM, Monday, March 28, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Gravelhill Cemetery, Gravelhill Community, Hemphill, Texas.

    Nelda Mae Chance, 89, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at her residence in Hemphill, Texas.

    She was born December 13, 1928 in Florida to J. D. Kelly and Isabelle Chaves Kelly. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

    Nelda had moved to Sabine County in 1955 and shortly thereafter became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she remained an active member for the rest of her life. She enjoyed working and over the years she could often be found plowing fields behind a mule or later, on a tractor. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, and sewing.

    Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Chance and daughters, Nelly V. and Jenny Conn.

    She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Diane Brown and husband, Truett; Gladystine Randolph and husband, Butch; Betty Sue Stabbs and husband, Mike; andMary Frances Perimon and husband, Billy; brother, P. Joe Kelly; sisters, Daisy Pond and Dorothy Germann; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

    Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 4984 Gravel Hill Rd., Hemphill, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Don Snider officiating.

    Burial will follow services in Gravel Hill Cemetery.

    Serving as pallbearers are Heath Perimon, Brian Brown, Jason Conn, Chris Wagstaff, Michael Wagstaff, Chad Randolph, and Justin Randolph.

    At the time of the 1920 Federal Census brothers Roy and Leo were boarders at a hotel run by Frank and Mary Morrison on Browndell Road in Jasper County, Texas. Roy was 18, and Leo 16, both single, and both employed as laborers at a saw mill, as were most the other boarders. He must have married soon after this, as by 1930 he was farming, with his younger half-brother Vessie in Sabine County, and shown as married for 10 years.
