    Marie Beckham Welsh, 96, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at her home in the McMahan Chapel community near Geneva after an illness. Mrs. Welsh was orn in the McMahan Chapel community to Dewitt and Emma Horn Beckham and had lived in Sabine County most of her life.

    During her second marriage to James Fuller (the local barber in Hemphill), Marie worked for a short period as a DJ in Corpus Christi, where she would play love songs on the local radio station. She was the owner and operator of Marie's Beauty Shop in Hemphill for many years in conjunction with B & W Hardware that she co-owned with her brother.

    Later, she established and worked with her third husband, Jimmy Welsh in their lumber and rock mining companies.

    Mrs. Welsh is survived by her husband, Jimmy M. Welsh of McMahan Chapel; and her three grandchildren, Jeffrey E. Fuller, Angelia Marie Fuller, and Kimberly Gail Fuller, as well as her great grandson, Jace Talmadge Fuller and nephew, Valton Gayle Beckham.

    She was preceded in death by her only child and son, Talmadge Gayle Fuller, who was the most important figure in her life aside from her three grandchildren.

    Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 28, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the McMahan Chapel Cemetery.

    Services were under the direction of Starr Funerals Home in Hemphill.

    A nearly identical obituary was also in the San Augustine Tribune, December 2, 2010, page 9. In this obituary her date of birth was listed as October 11, 1914.

    Marie married James Weldon Fuller before 1935. James (son of Clyde Webster Fuller and Lulu Benia Pratt) was born on 25 Jan 1916 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 20 Jul 1973 in Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas.
