William YOST was said to have been the son of George and Betty Yost of Holland. Judy Jones, however, notes that even though this is found in the Payne book; she suspects this may not be accurate. She was, as of July 2009, working on verifying whether or not this was correct. William Yost was the grandfather of her great-grandfather George Thomas Yost. Her Yost's (George, Katherine and children) were in Jessamine Co, KY for a time. They apparently originated from Maryland. It appears that William T. Yost and wife Matilda Payne came from KY to MO with Payne's. Later, several more Yost brothers came into Missouri.

Kathleen Wilham's notes indicate that the Yost family were "Moravians, United Brethern."

William married Matilda Payne on 27 Oct 1831 in Jessamine County, Kentucky. Matilda (daughter of William C. Payne and Sarah "Sally" Hamilton) was born about 1810 in Kentucky; died about 1872 in Marion County, Missouri; was buried in Palmyra, Shelby County, Missouri. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Woodson Thomas Yost was born about 1837 in Kentucky; died on 16 Sep 1914 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Missouri.
3. Sarah Catherine Yost was born about 1838 in Kentucky; and died.
4. Lucy Ann Sophia Yost was born about 1840 in Missouri; died on 1 Aug 1930.
5. Mary Elizabeth Yost was born about 1842 in Missouri; died on 3 Dec 1924 in Warren County, Missouri.
6. Levi Washington Yost was born about 1844 in Missouri; died about 1864 in Marion County, Missouri.
7. Adolphus Hamilton Yost was born about 1847 in Missouri; and died.
8. Matilda Frances Yost was born about 1852 in Missouri; died on 16 Sep 1895 in Knox County, Missouri.
9. Izora Ellen Yost was born about 1854 in Missouri; and died.
10. Isom Yost was born about 1856 in Missouri; and died.
