Luther Herschel Hickman was born in Arkansas to Thomas Jefferson & Louella (Davis) Hickman. He moved to this area as a child, attended school in the Ardmore area. He had worked as a salesman for B.L. Owens Furniture in Ardmore & Sulphur. He came to Sulphur in 1969. He was a member of the Abundant Life Church where he served as a deacon and board member. He was married to Dorothy Strong Powell Hickman on June 10, 1962 in Gainesville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Billy Jack Hickman and 8 brothers & 2 sisters.

Survivors: His wife Dorothy of the home 2 Sons: Richard Lee Powell of Abilene, Texas and Donald R. Powell of Sulphur 1 Sister: Jaunita Cason of Mead, Ok. 4 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren.

Services: Tuesday January 3, 2006 at the Abundant Life Church with interment to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore.

SULPHUR '97 Services for Luther Herschel Hickman, 91, Sulphur, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Abundant Life Church. Burial follows at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore. He died Dec. 30, 2005, at Sulphur.
