    Fuller-Boyett (F165)

    On May 13, 1913 Andy Arrington Fuller Tex. b. 06-11-1882 d 09-21-1950 and Minnie Maysel Boyett Tex. b. 03-28-1893 d. 09-25-1975 were united in marriage at Merryville, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. The groom had been a resident of Merryville since the early 1900s and at that time was partners with Walter Smith in a small cafe. He had worked in a mercantile store since coming to Merryville and had worked on the construction of the railroad bridge over Sabine River. Having saved his money to finance his own business he sent for the young Kirbyville, Texas girl who had promised to be his bride. She arrive on the Santa Fe at Hall City on the day they were wed. Arrie and Minnie, as they were known to their friends, started housekeeping in a couple of rooms rented from the bride's aunt, Mrs. Babe (Walter) Powell, situated just behind the present City Hall in Merryville.

    Both were born in Newton County, Texas. The Fuller family were early settlers in Texas, having come there by wagon in the mid 1850s from Alabama. They were merchants and farmers by trade and one brother was an innkeeper. George Washington Fuller (Ala. 09-28-1855) and Ursula Catherine P. Hardy (Tx. 05-05-1860) were Arrie's parents.

    The Boyetts came to Texas in the early 1860s from Alabama. Mr. Boyett was a blacksmith by trade, but also logged down the Sabine River to Orange, Texas. John Wesley Boyett (Ala. 02-12-1856) and Henrietta Jones (Ga. 07-13-1863) were Minnie's parents.

    Both families were large in number and hard workers. They were talented musicians and home parties with playing, singing, and dancing were their ideas of good times.

    Through the years, Arrie and Minnie were known for their generosity and hospitality. They worked hard for the betterment of Merryville, the school and their church. Both were talented musicians and music was one of the highlights of their home life.

    He owned and operated an electrical power station, ice house, two farms and was co-owner and operator of the Merryville Cotton Gin. He acquired much land, several rent houses and was co-owner of Fuller Construction Company with a cousin Leaky Mays of Jasper, Texas. He served as Mayor of Merryville and at the time of his death on Saturday 21, 1950 he was Sales Tax Collector for the state.

    Minnie carried on his tradition to the best of her ability for many years. She joined him in death on September 25, 1975. Both were members of the Methodist Church. He was a W.O.W. and a charter member of the Lions Club of Merryville. She was a charter member the Delphian Club, Merryville Chapter, and a honorary member of the Future Farmers of America, Merryville High School Chapter. She was also active in the WMS of the Methodist Church.

    To this couple two children were born, Cahterine Henrietta (Feb 4, 1917) and Elizabeth Lucille (Nov 23, 1921). Both girls were born in Merryville, attended Merryville schools and graduated in the years 1933 and 1939 respectively. Catherine was married to Leonard Hawley Stark (born in Merryville Dec 15, 1911) and to this union were born Andy Leonard Stark (La., Sept 25, 1938); Catherine Joanne Stark (La, May 18, 1943) and Mance Mason Stark (La., June 10, 1944).

    Lucille was married to James Ingia Humble (born Caldwell Parish, LA October 30, 1915) and to this union were born Amanda Lucille Humble (La, May 24, 1947); Jordan Fuller Humble (La, June 24, 1946); Merry Catherine Humble (La, Aug 14, 1947); Ingia Anne Humble (Tex, Aug 8, 1950) and Debra Renee Humble (Tex., July 23, 1954).

    At this writing, September 1985, both girls and their families are living.

    According to the 1900 census, Arrie was a Mail Rider. On the 1910 census, he was listed as a checker at a mill. In 1910, he was a boarder with the Jesse H. Lee family and still single.

    Andy married Minnie Maysel Boyett on 13 May 1913 in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. Minnie (daughter of John Wesley Boyett and Henrietta Jones) was born on 28 Mar 1893 in Newton County, Texas; died on 25 Sep 1975 in Newton County, Texas; was buried in Newton City Cemetery, Newton, Newton County, Texas.
