Josef's eldest son Frank Janda was not in the photo, probably due to being in Canada, and daughter Mary was missing as well, a mystery as she was the one that commissioned the photo to be taken. Daughters Antonie and Alice died young, prior to this photos, and also missing were Rousy's children from her later marriage to Joseph Matejovsky, Agnes, Stanley and Edward.

| Jesse Family, UNKNOWNS, ca 1880-1900 Xerox of a family photo from Jo Bossert Peck. It appears that the photo was taken at the studio of Mrs. Chappell in Sturgis, Michigan, as this was embossed on the cardboard frame. Jo indicated that on the back was written "Grandpa (Andrew?) Jesse's sister, daughter and husband." Jo is not sure which of Andrew Jesse's four sisters this refers to. It had originally been assumed that this was a photo of Andrew's parents, George Jesse and his wife, Marie Klesert. However, this does not appear to be the case. Volume 49, Number 2
Page One
Judging by the amount of beautiful paintings, afghans and other works she turns out, Mrs. Ben Benkelman, Sr., 88, accomplished more than many persons half her age. For example, in the last year, Mrs. Benkelman has knitted an intricately designed tablecloth, several small items, painted the picture shown above and another larger picture that is framed and hanges on the wall in her home. In addition, she writes regularly each week to her three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ball, New Jersey, Mrs. Lois Pease, Illinois and Mrs. Mae Carpenter, Michigan. She writes and signs all her own checks and keeps continually busy on her varied projects.

| Kuykendall, Anna Mary "Mamie" Keith McGuire wrote that this photo of Mamie McGuire was taken when she worked in a saloon, and is a piece of a larger photo. However Mary Ellen Okelberry, who owns the original, states that Mamie was a Christian Scientist and was opposed to serving alcohol. Mary Ellen says that the photo was actually taken at a cafe at which she worked. Although the name of the establishment is not known, the photo must have been taken sometime after 1912, based on the campaign poster (over Mamie's right shoulder) for the Woodrow Wilson/Thomas Marshall Presidential ticket.

| Leighton, Audrey Dean B. 1950 D. 2005, Texas
He was the valedictorian of his graduating class. Played the saxophone and was drum major. A child of privilege, he was a descendant of one of his hometown's most prominent families. His closest friends say he was "complex" and "multi-faceted." But when Audrey Dean Leighton died, most knew him simply as "The Twirler." With his long beard, short shorts, tall boots, brightly colored shirts and hats, Leighton stood out against the backdrop of the small East Texas towns and cities where he was often sighted toting his trademark baton.
