A family photo of John and Mary Striffler with their children. Their eldest child, Emeline stands behind her parents, and son George Albert is to their right. Daughter Salome sits on her father's lap and based on the birth order of their remaining children, it is assumed that Mary is holding son Edward on her lap. Edward was born a year before daughter Mattie, and died at the age of four.

    Striffler, Martha or Esther?
Martha and Esther were sisters, both daughters of John Striffler and Mary Benkelman. Carole Benkelman has a copy of this photo, and it was labeled Esther Striffler, who later married Rudolph Kaiser. Maggie Bethel also has a copy, inherited from her grandmother, Lena Mark Schwegler. Maggie believes it instead to be a photo of Martha Striffer. The woman in the photo is wearing the same clothing in this photo as in a cameo photo of Martha Striffler, also taken at the Meier studio, possibly taken at the same time. PLEASE HELP US CONFIRM EXACTLY WHO IS PICTURED IN THIS PHOTO.
    Striffler, Uncle John's Farm
    Striffler, Uncle John's Farm
The family gathered at Uncle John's farm after the felling of a particularly large pine tree on March 8, 1905. The tree was 112 feet tall and 4 feet, 7 inches in diameter. Lena Mark Schwegler identified the women standing to the left as Esther Striffler, Miss Klump, Lillian Striffler and Mattie Striffler. Just to their right, with the long white beard, is John Stiffler, the family partriarch. The youngest boys are Stanley, Paul and Will Bien.

PLEASE EMAIL IF YOU KNOW WHICH OF THE TWO LILLIAN STRIFFLER'S THIS IS (they were cousins, close in age) OR IF YOU CAN IDENTIFY ANYONE ELSE IN THE PHOTO.
