      Essie Mae Strickland

      Essie Mae Strickland, 83, of Jasper died Friday, May 19, at her residence. Mrs. Strickland was a native of Colmesneil and had lived in Jasper several years. She was formerly employed as a cafeteria worker for Jasper Independent School District and a clerk at Due's Minimax in Jasper. Survivors: a son PRENTICE STRICKLAND of Jasper, nephews Thomas Comte and Bobby Comte, Jim Kellum and Jack Kellum; a niece, Wanda Davis, three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held May 23 at the chapel of Forest Oak Funeral Home in Jasper. Interment was at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Jasper.
