    • Mrs. Johnnie Mae Smith, 79, of Milam died Friday, March 31, 2017 at CHI Memorial Hospital, Lufkin, TX. after a brief illness. Johnnie was born April 30, 1937 in Hemphill, TX. to Charles Conway (Connie) Brown White and Carter Arnold White and resided in Sabine County throughout her life. She was a housewife, mother and lifelong member of Hemphill Church of God. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Millard Smith; son, Randy Smith and wife Becky of Strickland Crossing; daughters Sheila Woods of Hudson and Angie Fuller and husband Rusty of Lufkin, two sisters, Betty Webb of Center and Linda Horton of Hemphill; grandchildren Justin Smith and wife Cassie, Kaitlyn Smith, Benjamin Smith; Hannah Woods, Reece Woods, Haylee Woods, Hayden Woods; Samantha McElroy and husband Will, Demi Fuller and Chase Fuller. She was preceded in death by her sister Billie Ruth Ferguson and son-in-law Vince Woods. Mrs. Smith is also survived by brothers in law Lamar Smith and wife Ruth, Tommy Smith and wife Juanita, Morris Shofner; sisters in law Janice Hughes and Brenda Elliott. Mrs. Smith leaves behind a large number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM, Monday evening at Starr Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 4, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Liberty Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank, Lufkin, TX 75904 or the Liberty Springs Cemetery Fund, 1895 Reeves Road, Milam, TX 75959.
