    Notes
    • In her transcription of the Oak Hill Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary indicates that he married first Thelma Alford and second Iola Westmoreland. His younger brother, Robert Cecil McDaniel, writes that R.S. and he jointly enrolled in Chenier Business and Radio College in Beaumont in September 1932, staying with their Uncle Kelse and Aunt Katie May (Broach) Renwick on 2805 Orange Street, two miles from the downtown business district. He graduated from the Radio course around December, 1933, and first returned to Hemphill and worked for W. E. Coussons. Later, Chenier's obtained a job for him as an engineer with KFDM radio station in Beaumont. He went on to work at KTRH and KXYZ in Houston, making many trips with the announcers to Southwest Conference football games. He later still worked for the Federal Aviation Agency, from which he retired in the early 1960's, returning to Hemphill.

Kay Parker McCary, in her annotated transcription of the Oak Hill Cemetery in Sabine County, shows he married second Iola Westmoreland.
