    Notes
    • The 1900 census seems to indicate he was born circa July 1856 in New York. Frank Bramhall, in his 1903 book "Genealogy of the Bramhall Family" instead shows a date of birth of July 23, 1851.

Eileen Bramhall-Hav? emailed, in May 2013, that on a visit to Alma some years previously, she had purchased a book about the history of that town.

She found the following brief mention of her grandfather's family: "About 1898-An Alma man named BRAMHALL invented a windmill-like machine which he claimed would replace the gold pan in placer mines. He tried out his "mill" in some black sand about four miles southeast of town and got a report back from the DENVER assay office, that it did contain traces of gold. Word of the report got out quickly "and everyone in Alma flocked over to this gulch" said attorney T.L. Porter. WC Murray, president of the towns First National Bank, either bought or leased the land and proceeded to sink a mine shaft with a crew that worked day and night. Samples were sent to Denver each time brought back slight encouragement from the assayer, who Porter felt was stringing the miner along"

Eileen added that Charles was a carpenter, and that she knows for a fact that he gathered his family and hightailed it out of Alma, not long after this, 'taking off for Kansas,' where daughter Ferne was born in 1900.

    • At the time of the 1910 census, Charles was shown as being married twice, whereas it appeared to be the first marriage of Mary. She was listed as the mother of 4 children, all still living. Only George and Ethel Fern were still at home.

There were three Bramhall markers at the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Kingman, Charles and Mary, and also Juanita Bramhall, born 1906 buried 8-1-1910. Might she also be a daughter?
