      Funeral services for Mrs. Evy Bridges, 78, Athens Rt. 5, were held at the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial was in Dement Cemetery, Spry Funeral Home directing.

      Mrs. Bridges died Thursday morning at the Athens-Limestone Hospital after a long illness.

      She is survived by a son, Nick Bridges, Athens Rt. 5; seven daughters, Mrs. Exie Nichols, Athens Rt. 5, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Mary Odell Chittam, Athens Rt. 8, Mrs. Clara Elledge, Hazel Green, Mrs. Marie Wooding, Millerton, N.Y., Mrs. Mattie Billions, Athens, Mrs. Syble Newton, Anderson, and Mrs. Edna Newton, Rogersville; a sister, Mrs. Betty Ezell; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
