  Notes	The Sabine County Reporter, January 1, 2020 issue featured a photo of Clovis Conner, a resident of the Hemphill Nursing Center, being visited by students at Hemphill Middle school. The students were Sam Welch, Ryleigh Procell, and Conor McDaniel. All had big smiles! The photo, taken by Bill Dodson, is on page 7. In the same paper, in the February 24, 2021 issue, page 3, another photo of Clovis Conner was published,detailing her 103rd birthday celebration at the Hillside Nurshing and Rehabilitation center. It was noted that "she loves everybody and always prays before every year. Her favorite hymn is The Old Rugged Cross." Obituary Clovis M. Conner, 104, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Legacies Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hemphill. Clovis was born in Carthage, Texas on February 22, 1918 to James Alvin Harley and Eula Brown Harley. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and was a loving mother and grandmother. Clovis came from a large family of six sisters and one brother. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending her time with all her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Strickland Crossing Church of God. Clovis is survived by her son, Bob Conner and wife, Annette, of Hemphill; daughter, Jackie Merritt and husband, Telvin, of Many, La.; daughter-in-law, Sissy of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Dawn, Marcie, Charles, Pat, Jymann, Shelly, Brandon, Cody, Clint and Lisa; twenty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Ray Conner Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2022 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2022 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Moody and Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. Burial will follow services in Lott Cemetery off FM 2024 in Pineland with Brandon Merritt, Cody Conner, Clint Conner, Hunter Conner, Brady Welch, Cade Procell and Sam Welch serving as pallbearers.
