John S. Causey Dies Monday
John Sidney Causey, 73, suffered a fatal heart attack Monday at 11:45 a.m. while cutting wood near Poye bridge over Palo Gaucho Creek. At the time of the attack, his wife was fishing in the creek nearby. Not hearing him fro sometime, she went to investigate and found him where he had fallen. Funeral services for Mr. Causey were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill. The Rev. Thomas Bailey, a Lufkin Pentecostal minister, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Charles Murphy, Pentecostal minister of Leesville, La. and the Rev. Clarence Howell, pastor of First Baptist Church, Hemphill. Burial was in the Hemphill Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. C. Russell, Tommy Bragg, Chester Bragg, Jim Wilson, E. E. Maxey and D. B. Speights. Survivors are his wife, Nettie Causey of Hemphill, two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Wallace, Albuequerque, N. M., and Mrs. Margie Coats, Shreveport, La., three sons, James Causey, Hemphill, Rufus Causey, Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, and Sidney Causey, Jr., Seattle, Wash., 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
