  Notes	In a biography of her husband Americus Carter, she was named as "Miss Martha Ponder daughter of Silas and Lucitta (Darden) Ponder, and sister of the late Hon. William A. Ponder, of this parish." Martha's brother, William Amos Ponder, was also stepfather to Americus. According to John and Meg Anderson's notes on FindaGrave, Margaret Holden married William Amos Ponder after her first husband, Isaac Carter, died.
