    • In the STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, Volume 9, September 2, 1946, in a column titled "Still in the Service of the U.S.A.", it was noted that Donald Darling was in the army in Tientsin, China.

      Donald C. Darling, Kingston

      Died Tuesday, October 13, 1998 at Tendercare in Cass City. He was 71. A retired farmer, he was born March 3, 1927 in Cass City to the late Owen and Martha (Mark) Darling. Mr. Darling married Joan Dodge August 30, 1952 in Cass City. He was a lifelong resident of the Kingston area, graduated from Marlette High School in 1945, served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He is survived by his wife Joan of Kingston; a son Richard Darling of Kingston; a daughter Kathy Darling of Cass City; four brothers, Jim and Violet Darling of Filion, Bob and Noretta Darling of Marlette, Fred and Patrica Darling of Marlette, Jerry and Sue Darling of Grayling; two sisters, Mary and Carl Geister of Deford, Norma and Clark Cryderman of Waterford. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Darling. Funeral services were held Friday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with Rev. John R. Allan officiating. Burial was in the Elkland Cemetery in Cass City. Pallbearers were John Darling, Ron Darling, Ted Roberson, Stan Fox, Richard D'Arcy and Dale Darling. Memorials may given to the donation of your choice.

    • The 1941 issue of the Striffler-Benkelman Broadcast showed that Mr. and Mrs. Owen Darling of Brown City observed their 25th anniversary Apr. 19, 1941. The STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, Volume 26, September 5, 1966, reported that they were honored at a reception at the home of their son Jim in celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Their eight children and families planned the celebration.
