    • Mrs. Frances Kathleen (Sparks) Maxwell, age 94, longtime resident of San Augustine, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in San Augustine.
      Frances was born to Audra (Ford) Sparks and Ernest Sparks on March 5, 1919, in San Augustine, Texas. She graduated from San Augustine High School in 1937. Thereafter attending Business School. She served as President of the Home Life Insurance Company in San Augustine for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, past member of the Eastern Star Chapter, Past City Council Person, was Mayor Pro tem for the City of San Augustine, Past member of the Chamber of Commerce, and Past Member of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments, and Past Board Member of Directors for First National Bank in Center. She was a member of the Christian Science.

      Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with interment following in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 from the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Wyman Roberts.

      Those left to cherish her memory include, Grandson: Jason Wells and his wife Shelly of San Augustine; Granddaughters: Jeanna Wells Penick and her husband, Martin of Nacogdoches and Paula Wells of Nacogdoches; Great-grandchildren: Brady Wells, Casey Wells, Brandt Wells, Laura Penick, and Leslie Penick; Sisters: Betty Jean Cartwright of San Augustine and Claudine Selden of San Augustine; Sister-in-law: Agnes Sparks of San Augustine; along with numerous nieces and nephews, along with a special care-taker and friend; Rachel Renfroe of San Augustine.

      She is preceded in death by her husband, David Maxwell; daughter, Ernestine Weaver Wells; her parents; Audra (Ford) Sparks and Ernest Sparks; Sister, Marie Roberts Lawrence; brothers, Beeman Sparks; Hugh Sparks, and LeRoy Sparks.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Daughters of the Republic of Texas or to the Christian Science Church.
