    • Winfred P. Ener left this world and entered Heaven's Gates on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 while at Shady Shores Nursing Home in Hemphill, Texas. He was 90 years old.

      Winfred was born September 20, 1929 in Hemphill, Texas to Hamp and Bess Mae Ener. He attended one room schoolhouses in Sabine County until attending high school in Hemphill.

      In 1951, Winfred was drafted into the Army, serving in the Korean War, returning home with a purple heart. He made a living as a truck driver and a cattle rancher. Winfred also preached and pastored churches across Sabine County.

      Mr. Ener is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Esta Fay Ener; second wife, Mammie Ener; and sisters, Bettie Mae McGraw and Dorothy Webb; granddaughter, Ashley Ener; and great granddaughter, Abigale DaMoude.

      He is survived by his children, Winfred J. Ener of Austin, Linda Espin and husband, Dennis, of Waco, Patricia Simons and husband, Randy, of Crawford, Sandra Cepak and husband, Mark, of Elm Mott, Joe Ener and wife, Debbie, of Hemphill and Nathan Ener and wife, Tammy, of Hemphill.

      Winfred leaves behind twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Kevin Windham and Joe Ener officiating.

      Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to service time.

      Burial will follow services in Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Oakhill Rd., Hemphill, Texas.
