    • Jewel Emilie Maxey, 75, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 in Sabine County Hospital.

      Emilie was born March 27, 1942 in Zwolle, Louisiana to Jewel Lewis and Evelyn Sistrunk Myers. She had worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for many years for Pendleton Harbor Property Owners Association, McCurry Chevrolet, and Chance Construction. She was a longtime member of Rosevine Church of God where she served many years as secretary/treasurer. Emilie's favorite pastime was Facebooking where she kept up with her friends and tried to keep a few in line.

      Emilie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Rufus Maxey of Hemphill, Texas; sons, Keith Nabours and wife, Darlene, of Hemphill and Bryan Nabours of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Cheryl Maxey and Ronny Procell of Bronson, Texas; brother, Lewis Myers and wife, Pat, of Zwolle, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jena, Lindsay, Justin, Conner, Taylor, and Mahala; and six great grandchildren, Leah, Gracie, Avery, Caylee, Connor, and Brinlee.

      A visitation will be held Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

      Burial will follow in King Cemetery, Milam, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
